The scammer doesn't attack your computer: they attack you.
Social engineering is the art of manipulating someone into doing the attacker's work themselves: paying, giving a code, installing software. No hacking required, just universal human levers: urgency (“do it now”), authority (“I'm your bank advisor”), fear (“your account is under attack”) or greed (“guaranteed 12% return”).
The forms change: fake tech support, fake advisors, wire fraud, fake investments, parcel scams, but the strings are always the same. Learning to recognise the telltale phrases (“hurry up”, “don't tell anyone”, “stay on the line”) and the pressure patterns vaccinates you against nearly every scam, including the ones that don't exist yet.
Learn to identify the psychological lever common to almost every scam.
Pressure to act fast is a red flag: slow down and verify.
10 exercises per level, mixing decision, spotting and quiz. The first 2 levels are free; the next ones open with any subscription.
Each level ends with a mission: what remains to be done once the lesson is understood. Some rely on your report, others on a setting we cannot see: it says so each time.
Pick someone close whom you'll call before any payment you're rushed into, and tell them today. A scam needs you to act alone and fast: a two-minute call takes both away.
On your personal computer, open the list of installed programs. A remote-control tool you didn't install yourself has no business there: uninstall it, then change your passwords from another device.
An instant transfer leaves in seconds and doesn't come back. Ask your bank, in the app or at a branch, for a daily or per-transfer limit that fits your needs. In the euro area, it has to let you set one.
A fake bank adviser quotes your address, sometimes your IBAN, to sound legitimate. See which of these details are out there about you: they're exactly the ones that will never prove who is calling.
Give two rules to someone close who is more exposed than you, an elderly parent or a teenager: there's no guaranteed risk-free return, and you never send money to someone you've never met. Tell them they can talk to you about it without shame.
